Roadworks planned for Riverview’s North Health Precinct

April 24, 2018
As announced in 2015, two new mental health facilities are being constructed on the Riverview Lands; the Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) and Maples Adolescent Centre at the old Valleyview Pavillion site and the Centre for Mental Health & Addictions (CMHA) at the old Unit 8 site. Both developments will be focused in the northern most part of the Riverview Lands, an area described as the North Health Precinct. Since their announcement in 2015, both the Valleyview Pavillion and Unit 8 buildings have been demolished and construction is underway.

Municipal process requires offsite infrastructure improvement work, as defined by the City of Coquitlam, to be delivered by the landlord in tandem with new developments on-site. The City of Coquitlam holds BC Housing, as title holder, responsible for fulfilling these requirements and has scoped the works to include;
  • Partial reconstruction of Lougheed Highway from Orchid Drive to approximately Davidson Creek; and
  • Creation of a multi-use path (MUP) for cyclist and pedestrian usage from Orchid Drive to approximately Davidson Creek.
To further support new developments and public usage within Riverview’s North Health Precinct, BC Housing has scoped additional infrastructure improvement work within the Riverview Lands;
  • A re-orientation and formalization of the North-South portion of Holly Drive from Orchid to approximately Davidson Creek; and
  • Sidewalk and public realm improvements (street lights, signage etc.) to increase pedestrian safety and access.
Works will start in late April 2018 and continue until late 2018.
BC Housing will communicate anticipated road closures to on-site tenants and will post regular updates on the Renewing Riverview website.
